Efficacy of therapeutic F75 & F100 in malnourished child admitted at NICH.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of F 75 and 100 in children with severe acute malnutrition. Study Design: Cross Sectional study. Setting: National Institute Child Health, Karachi. Period: 1st Jan 2021 to 30th June 2021. Material & Methods: All malnutrition, aged 6 months 5 years, irrespective gender were included Children parents/guardians who failed give consent excluded from Relevant history was recorded. After intervention as per departmental standards, F-75 initiated. When subject gained weight at rate 0.5g kg/day for three consecutive days, patient then administered F-100. Both diets 6-8 times a day. Outcome recorded by comparing post treatment mean baseline weight. Results: The age child mother 30.53 ± 13.37 31.31 6.34 respectively. increase 0.75 0.77 kgs (Pre- post-treatment). Increase BMI 1.12 1.34 kg/m2 while MUAC 0.93 0.89 cm. Statistically significant increments observed weight, MUAC, body mass index after administration F75/F100 diet severely malnourished (p<0.0001).
